e-Visa Application Process
- Create an account on the Tanzania Immigration portal
- Complete the application form with personal details
- Upload required documents (see checklist below)
- Pay the visa fee by credit/debit card
- Wait for approval (typically 7-10 business days)
- Print your e-Visa to present upon arrival

Visa on Arrival Process
Available at: All international airports (Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar) and major land borders
Process:
- Complete arrival form on plane/border
- Queue at Visa on Arrival counter
- Present required documents
- Pay fee in USD cash (new bills preferred)
- Receive visa sticker in passport
Important Notes:
- Cash payment only (USD or Tanzanian Shillings)
- Possible long queues during peak season
- Not all nationalities eligible - check beforehand
- More expensive than e-Visa ($100 for most nationalities)
Special Considerations
East African Visa
$100 USD valid for Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda. Must apply in advance at embassies.
Zanzibar Visa
Covered by Tanzania visa. No separate visa needed when arriving from mainland.
Visa Extensions
Possible at immigration offices for $50. Requires valid reason and documentation.
